The Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills is Stage 1 of the Postgraduate Masters in Practice Based Therapy programme. The overall purpose of the Certificate course is to enable participants to practice safely and effectively using therapeutic play skills in a variety of settings to provide emotional support to individual children with slight to moderate problems.

You will learn through experiential exercises, Course Director-led tutorials on theory and independent study. Reading and assignments will provide new information and consolidation of material from the experiential work encountered during the training.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy is Stage 2 of the Postgraduate Masters in Practice Based Therapy programme. The overall purpose of the Diploma course is to enable participants to practice safely and effectively using play therapy skills in a variety of settings to provide emotional support to individual children with moderate to severe and complex problems. Topics covered in the Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills are re-visited at a greater level of competence and converted into skills to be used with therapeutic groups.

You will be heavily involved in experiential exercises as well as lectures/presentations, critical discussion, small group seminars, signposted self-study, and workshops. Clinical practice under supervision is central to the learning process.
